Good afternoon Resident

This message is to make the you and the local community aware and help keep themselves safe. North Yorkshire Police have received a report of 2 people knocking on doors and offering to buy gold in the local community on Saturday 28th February 2026. They have been to a couple of homes and when the resident has said that they do not have any gold, the buyer has tried to persuade the resident to have a look anyway offering to either wait there or return later. The buyer has then left empty handed.

Please read and consider the below security advice:

Have a look through a window or the peep hole (if there is one) to see who is at the door before answering.

Ask to see identification (even if they are wearing clothing with the company's logo on).

Don't sign up for anything if you don't think it is suitable and you have considered your options.

Consider installing a door bell camera and CCTV.
